HARRIET TUBMAN
I chose Harriet Tubman to be the most influential person in history in the years between 1789-1930 because, she risked her life every day just by trying to help others, to make them have a better life, and let them have a chance of living by being free. Harriet went above and beyond in everything she did, she succeeded at mostly everything she did in her life. She succeeded most at things people failed at. The first risky thing she did in her life was escape for her own freedom. The first people she saved were her own family members, her doing that proves what a loyal person she was and that she always kept her word. Harriet was not only one of the conductors on the under ground rail road, she also succeeded in many different things such as; a nurse, a soldier, and a spy. Her succeeding in all those different things also shows how dedicated she was to what she did, how dedicated she was too helping other people, and also putting others first before herself. When Harriet ran a train on the underground rail road between the years 1850-1858 she never lost a passenger. In those years she helped over 300 slaves reach freedom. From all the things she did the two words that describe her the best are bravery and a hard worker. Hard worker describes her because all her hard work is what got her to where she was at, she was a hard worker even back when she lived on the plantation and she never did anything with out giving it her best effort. Bravery describes her because bravery is the main thing she needed while she helped free all the slaves through out the years. If she did not have bravery she would not have done all the things she had done. She needed bravery when she escaped, when she saved other slaves, when she was a spy, and especially when she was a soldier. Harriet Tubman is someone everyone can look up to in life as a great example, because she never gave up, always put her 100 percent effort in everything she did, always put people first, and liked to help in any way she could. Harriet is one of the most important people in our history because she helped change a lot of things and helped influence a lot of situations in different ways. All of the reasons I have stated above are all great reasons of why I believe Harriet Tubman is the most influential person in the United States. She did so much in history for me to believe what a great person she really was. She never accepted failure, she only accepted the best. People did not call her "Moses" for nothing!
